That's how my last sub tube arrived....like it had been shaken like a crying baby....all 4 posters had significant damage from where the kraft paper had scrunched against the prints. Emailed Dan last week, still haven't heard anything.

I think I'm out too. W/ Dan increasing the print run, it's pretty easy to just get what actually want on the drop, albeit for an increased price.

I still think it's a good deal. The break even point for the sub is between 7 and 8 prints. ($47*7=$329) This makes it sound like not too great of a deal, but seeing all the prints in person is something you can't consider in just looking at pricing. Also, it's nice to be able to sit back and relax on drops.

Yes, it's hard to sell some of the prints. But let's say you sold 7 of the 13 prints (don't forget the bonus print) for only $30 each (not a bad average). Then you'd still be left with 6 prints and only be out $140 ($23/print). Not too shabby. And that $30 average is a pretty low number. I almost* sold 3 prints from the sub this weekend for ~$130. And the going rate for "Wish You Were Here" is about $100. So in theory, I'd still have 9 prints left and only be out $120 ($13/print). Not bad.

I know I'm babbling here, but I guess I needed to justify the sub for myself. People are saying the high print runs are making it not such a good deal - but I disagree - I still think it's reasonable. Add in the intangible benefits of seeing them all in person, as well as having the same print numbers, and not having to worry about drop days, and I've convinced myself to keep it up, for now.

*I'll make a post directly after this explaining why it's "almost". Dumb story.

Ok - so my story about how I 'almost' sold 3 McCarthy prints this weekend. I got a PM on EB for the three "Helpless" prints. We agreed on a price and when I had time, I went to go check the prints out to make sure they were in good condition. "Blue Windows..." was fine (well, slight fade issue, but no big deal). "Yellow Moon..." was perfect. But I couldn't find "Big Birds...". I tore through my whole collection. My 'flattening' stack (which was where it should have been), my flat file, my portfolio. Nowhere to be found. Sent a message to the prospective buyer telling him I'd send a note to Dan to find out where it was. Another search - nothing.

Finally I had the bright idea that maybe it wasn't included in this sub shipment - but that can't be right: "Wish You..." was this month's, so of course it wasn't included, but everything prior should have been, right? WRONG! "Big Birds..." was the July print - and Jul/Aug/Sept/Oct prints are to be shipped in the final tube. We just got the Mar/Apr/May/Jun prints. Grrrr. I'm so stupid.

+1. But now that I have the sub this year, I really like seeing them all in person. Getting rid of the ones I don't want isn't a big deal to me. I just signed up for next year.

I decided a while back to take Pink and Cold off my wall, and I'm not really missing them. Besides, I think some of the prints from last year's sub will get nice frame jobs and places of honor instead. I rarely have room for a full "set" of something on my wall, and I'm not feeling in love with the McCarthy Moon prints enough for them to be that "set."

If he lowers his run and some of the value goes up, then I may be interested, but I'm good for now. Don't get me wrong, I only buy art that I like, but it's nice to know if I don't want or don't have space for a piece that I can at least get my money back by selling it.

I like the grid. To me its a pepresentation of the linearity on earth.... the "ants marching" effect. Then when you look in the sky, the grid isnt linear anymore and all the red lines show the possibility of going any which way. So while your body/mind/soul/essense/whatever is constrained during our time on earth, the possibilities are endless once we leave the world (as we know it) behind

...not sure if that makes sense to anyone except me... I didnt expalin it very well
