I'm actually jumping up and down. ;)
I was so disappointed when Cville birthday bash plans with everyone started falling through, and when Vegas hopes started to collapse as well. We even thought, maybe CO to ski/watch a killer show, but prices were sky high. And I hadn't been paying attention, but I did not expect this at all.

Here’s how this works:
Buy a ticket for $135 to either show and you will receive a unique code worth $150 on www.justgive.org
Use this code to direct a donation to any charity of your choosing on JustGive.org. (JustGive is a nonprofit organization that connects people to over 1.8 million charities).
Have fun giving with your fellow concert goers: consider making a collective impact by encouraging your neighbors and friends to all choose a mutual charity of interest, such as a local school, park or favorite community organization.
Your directed donation is funded by Dave Matthews and a generous supporter.
100% of the proceeds will be donated to charities selected by the ticket purchasers.
Bottom line… See a great show while helping make a better world!

quite pricey indeed. I love the rationalizing going on in my head to make it seem better: if we had gone to Cville it would've easily been $1200+, Vegas would've been about $1000+ and D&T Seattle ends up being $500-600 which after worded like that, seems like a great deal. :lol

It's too bad they couldn't have worked it out for a weekend show. But with the Nutcracker and all the other holiday events at McCaw during the winter months this was probably the only "in" they had in the schedule.

Plus Seattle is fantastic in Dec. That may sound sarcastic, but seriously :lol downtown gets that holiday vibe with a carousel in the middle of the city, lights hung in all the trees, and everyone shopping and dining...we love just walking around downtown with a coffee and feeling all festive. :)

I'm excited they chose it over places like the Paramount (where I worked for 6 years). McCaw/Benaroya are my favorite (larger) show venues by a mile.

to clarify the bolded part...so Dave himself and a supporter are covering the $15 difference between donation price and ticket price? Or are they saying Dave is donating by like, playing the show, lol? Just read it closely and got curious.

Oct 26, 2010, 12:54 PM
ah nevermind, found this in the FAQ:
Since I’m spending $135 on the ticket, why do I get a credit for $150 on JustGive.org?
Answer: The shows’ total proceeds plus some are being donated to charity. Dave and a generous supporter who is adding a gift as well, are making this possible and want the fans to decide where the shows’ proceeds will be given.

hahaha it really would be fun!!! Seattle is fantastic this time of year. We're gonna spend the afternoon walking around downtown, maybe U Village, go for a run along Lake Washington, and then hang out in the Seattle Center before the shows. ali815
Dec 6, 2010, 02:28 PM
That's a tough call. Demand for the poster doesn't seem to be too high. Maybe wait for Methane or grab it now to be safe (but MT hasn't been doing too well with shipping).
I think they'd be gone by 8:00 but honestly have no clue...just guessing. I should be there around 7:00/7:15 so maybe cutting it close to missing out too.

Home!
Great set...really, really solid. Loved they added Say Goodbye and Spoon sounded sick. Same with IBYU. Pleased with Dodo and Oh as I love those two from Some Devil. Dive In was funny because he said "bear on the side of the road" and started over. Silly davespeak previously about smoking and said something like, "If I actually saw a bear on the side of the road I REALLY must be high!" His voice was great throughout. I have a lot of pictures and some video clips but will upload tomorrow while bored at work :)
Lots of really funny (coherent) davespeak too...we were chatting about the Head and the Heart during the intermission and Corey mentioned they sounded really cool with maybe a Beatles influence. During Dave's set he mentioned that August was watching them from the side and turned to him and asked, "Are they the Beatles?" :lol cute on its own but also funny cause the boyfriend had the same perception as a 3 year old.
Merch was crazy when doors opened and I took some pics of the shirts but they were all from the side or me trying to sneak in for a shot. We didn't buy anything. They had Seattle specific shirts with an anchor that phased into the Space Needle (same design for guys and gals but different colors) and Head and the Heart shirts/cd's. Had some standard beanies and a black fd hat. Lots of posters even with a 2 per person limit. Still had plenty when we went back to look at intermission (and hardly any crowds then too).

another big plus that I didn't mention was the crowd! They were sooooooooo chill. No talking or shouting by a single person in the general circumference around us. And the people that did yell only did so a little and mostly between songs. I posted this on **** but if there wasn't music I bet you could hear a pin drop. I could hear every word Dave was saying because it was silent besides some laughter. We were perched up on a very steep incline (the very tall man in front of me only came up to my waist in terms of sight line) so it was the best view I've ever had at any Dave/DMB/D&T show in my life :lol I hope tonight's crowd is half as good as it was last night!!!

Dec 7, 2010, 01:44 PM
I have no clue! They came out wearing them and left them on stage (Tim's on the table and Dave's on the piano). When he messed up Dive In he said something about hardhats making him more serious so they played the song with them on. It led to a story about how big his head was...
Oh and I forgot - he introduced the Head and the Heart in Russian...dunno if he actually said anything but it sounded cool :lol

To me, this is how a D&T show should be. I really thought the Vegas crowd was awful last yr.
I agree. I was expecting a lot worse from my 2 previous D&T experiences. It was incredible how quiet it was (I'm uploading my IBYU video and I don't think there's like any screams or hollers). It was great. Some people were really dressed up all fancy and the venue itself kind of set the tone. I don't even recall hearing "I love you Dave!" though it probably happened once or twice...just that it was so rare I didn't notice lol!
One side note that I didn't mention: during the head and the heart two super drunk dudes came in and sat down 3 rows ahead of us, yelling and laughing as obnoxiously loud as they could and everyone was looking at em and hushing them. Anyway I was like 'great, this has to be right in front of us'...turns out at intermission one of the guys puked all over the seats (gross) and his buddy, wine still in hand, was just standing there sheepishly. He finally leaves too and neither come back for the show (missed the entire D&T set...real smart guys). I was so thrilled cause like I said, our section (and most of the theater it seemed) was quiet and calm and respectful (we were surrounded by couples, and the average age I'd say seemed to be 50-60). I really, really dug it. :)

It was a great night! Solid setlist and only a few repeats. Play GIG and Alligator dedicated to each of his girls, Baby Blue for Ashley, and Needle for Roi. Funny Davespeak about his shirtless pictures on the beach and that he didn't need to see that..but we can google it if we want to...interesting talk about heaven and the devil. I think he realized midway he might offend and ended up turning it into silly sci-fi banter.
Nice to see Christmas Song and Typical (surprised when people left during this for the bathroom) and OSW (with the awesome intro). The crowd was way worse last night than N1 but it was still tolerable. Luckily the people around me were again really chill.
Pics and videos to come!

wow! :(
Are you doing any D&T? Hope you get it soon!
I've been lucky to get a hand full of Dreaming Trees/Last Stops/Typicals/Back You Ups/pigs/BOWAs etc etc but out of 30 something shows I'm still missing Halloween which bums me out to no end :lol

nice!
Thanks! There were some killer lighting effects throughout the show. I was surprised as I remembered D&T as being a lot more simple.

That spoon was f'n awesome
The more I consider it the more I prefer Dave & Tim shows to the full band... atmosphere, setlist, and poster-wise

Thanks Mike! I tried to stay as still as possible lol. Watchtower gets a little crazy at the end but otherwise it was pretty easy to rest my elbows on me knees and still get a really clear shot.

I heard it at Wrigley for the first time and had one of many Dave-gasms. It is a song I have wanted to hear live for quite awhile...but why would they play it in the middle of summer? Soooo excited when they played it at Wrigley:sadie
