He was money before f'ing Mark Shapiro traded him for some used baseballs and a couple of broken bats, just the Indians couldn't hit for him. Hell, our hitters couldn't hit a whiffle ball w/ the big red bat.

Baseball is and always be my favorite sport. Even when my team, the Cubs, suck.

They are in trouble for a few years with some of the bloated contracts they have for some older guys in their decline years, see Alfonso Soriano. 5 more years at like $20 mil/ year that is scary. They are paying that for a 6th hitter with no speed and no defense.

One other thing on Soriano, I don't know why anyone ever throws a fastball to him. Three breaking balls in the dirt and he will swing a each one.

At least the Bears have a QB for a change.

I had a college roommate that was a huge Cubs fan and he was so pumped they got Soriano. I was trying to tell him that contract would bite them in the ass but he wouldn't even listen to me. It will be interesting to see what the new ownership does with the team.

No way the Sox don't make a huge splash in the off season and go full force at Howard

they may go full force but Howard will resist:
1. He will, by that time, be part of a dynasty in the making.
2. He loves to play first base. He will not choose to DH till he's 40. He lost 20 lbs in the off season to sharpen his defense.
3. He sneezes and the ball goes out of Citizen's Bank Park. And the city goes crazy. The city that loves him. Believes in him. And will pay him accordingly :)

So on the outside of the Metrodome they have always had this big sign showing the Twins World Series titles and yesterday as the potential last game there I wanted to take some pictures of the outside of the Metrodome. Well they covered up literally almost an entire side of the Metrodome with a giant Brett Favre sign and it covered up the spot where the Twins sign was for their World Series titles. The whole outside of the building was covered with purple signs for the Vikings. Not only that, they already had a banner hanging on the side of the Metrodome with its new name: Mall of America Field. Did you guys hear they just renamed the Metrodome literally last week? What the shit? Here we are coming the last scheduled regular season Twins game ever to be played there and they changed the name of the place before it happened and draped the entire outside of the building in Vikings shit.

There is definitely no love lost when we finally leave that place.

What do you mean? I'm talking about Sunday as I was going to the game. I wanted to take a picture of the Metrodome before the Twins game started. The game on Sunday was planned forever. It was always the last scheduled game of the year. It was the game they had the big ceremony remembering the Metrodome after the game. All of this stuff happened at Sunday's game, the last scheduled game of the season for every team in baseball. They made all these changes before the season was done not even counting Tuesday's game.

That one really affected the outcome of the game, too bad.
Strike zones have been all over the place, atleast in the first two Dodger-Cards game.

sox/angels crew had a rough game 1 with the strike zone and a couple of plays at first. sucks the sox are down 0-2 but i still like their chances if they win game 3 and turn it over to lester and beckett again. wake up offense!!

Definately had an affect on the game, but the twins loaded the bases in the 11th with nobody out and didn't get a run across.

Lawyer: Woman scored online tix in past
Comment Email Print Share
Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA -- A Philadelphia woman charged with offering sex for World Series tickets says she's embarrassed about her arrest, but did nothing wrong and is still hopeful of attending a game.

WORLD SERIES: PHILLIES VS. YANKEES

Complete coverage of the Phillies-Yankees matchup. More

"I didn't do anything wrong, so I'm not embarrassed about my actions. I'm embarrassed about how I was arrested," Susan Finkelstein told The Associated Press in a phone interview Wednesday, a day after meeting at a suburban bar with an undercover police officer responding to an ad on Craigslist.

Finkelstein's lawyer said his client is merely "a nice lady overcome with Phillies fever."

She might have dropped double entendres in her Craigslist ad but never explicitly offered sex, her lawyer William J. Brennan said.

The 43-year-old University of Pennsylvania graduate student wanted to take her husband to a game between her beloved Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Yankees. The self-described "buxom blonde" said she was simply trying to score tickets online, as she had in the past.

Over a few beers at a suburban bar, she told a police officer she needed two tickets, one for herself and one for her husband. No price had been discussed, and Finkelstein and her lawyer stopped short of recounting specifics of what was said before several officers sitting at a nearby table came to arrest her.

Brennan hopes to get the misdemeanor charge of promoting prostitution dismissed.

"If somebody read into that posting a sexual connotation, that's on them. There's no overt sexual reference," Brennan said.

Finkelstein told WPVI-TV she was looking to get a deal on tickets.

"I was hoping to get cheap tickets," she said, "maybe meet someone, and talk, and bat my eyelashes and maybe get some tickets."

Finkelstein faces a preliminary hearing in Bucks County on Dec. 3. On the bright side, she's been offered a pair of tickets to a weekend game in Philadelphia, courtesy of a radio station and car dealer.

"It definitely wasn't worth all this ... turmoil and anxiety," she told the AP with her lawyer and husband, 56-year-old John LaVoy, on the line. "Hopefully, the silver lining is I do get to see the game."

She is not worried about the notoriety that might follow her to the stadium in the wake of national news coverage of her arrest.

"I think most people will be focused on the game," Finkelstein said.
