Thans Mike. Unfortunately, the stuff that I would want would most likely consist of you having to show up early and camping out like we used to have to do for concert tickets back in the day. Not going to ask anyone to do that for me.

Would have had some Hopslam to throw in as well, but they sold bottles about an hour before I got to the store. They did give me a few samples of some new stuff but don't remember the name, nice guys.

Ya. You have to like the style and enjoy some heat to a beer. It's a strong one. Had founders imperial stout for the first time the other day. Another good imperial.

I think it would have to be an overnighter, just for the fact that we'd have to get to Founders early that morn to get in line. That being said, I do have a friend who lives in GR that we could probably crash at his house the night before..................

Rogue maple bacon was gross

That was just an awful beer. Big let down. At least now I've got a couple of extra bottles to give to people who I don't like to try. Could make an experiment out of it. Talk about how much I like it and what an awesome beer it is and see what their reaction is.

Sounds like a good strategy. Wish we could actually get good distribution of 3F's here in Ohio. I've only ever seen Behemoth near me. One of these days I'll be able to try Zombie Dust, Alpha King, and Gumball Head....

If distribution of ZD continues to be as weak as it has been and they keep selling it at the brewery, I have no prob going and grabbing a bunch of cases on lunch for DPers. As far as Gumballhead and Alpha King go, if you want me to ship you some, PM me. There's a little liquor store by me that always seems to have their regular stuff available whenever I stop in. I stopped by this weekend and they had Pride & Joy, Alpha King, and even some Jinxproof left.

But yeah, Zombie Dust is amazing. Had one before I got on the road, friggin delicious.

I think the lack of distribution has to
Do with the scarcity of the special hops that brew takes. Hopefully distribution will improve over the summer.

weird, i just heard about the brewery that makes zombie dust and so on and was very interested, i then went on a mad online search to try and find ZD or others from the brewery to try and get some here in Philly to no avail. A few bars by me get Russian River beers (Pliny Elder and Younger, Damnation, etc.) but I have never seen this Three Floyds. If anyone wants to help me out with a couple bottles, variety, hell anything I would appreciate it.

Also as a contribution to this thread, I'm really enjoying Cisco Brewers out of Nantucket right now (if not just for the labels) as well as The Bruery out of Orange County, CA, recently had 4 Calling Birds, excellent.

just had Damnation on Sunday at Manayunk tavern out of a bottle (granted it was 8.50)! Generally Pliny the Elder and Younger I've only seen on tap and at a select few bars, Union Jacks Manayunk and Grey Lodge, for those that are from the area. Philly's craft brew scene is great, we have some great bars and distributors that get a good amount of West Coast brews into the area. About 3 years ago I had my first Pliny the Elder out of the tap, my local bartender (at Union Jacks) let me know when it was coming in.. At that time they had been on a waiting list to receive the keg for months and only 2/3 kegs came into Philly in that shipment and they wouldn't be getting another for at least six months. No idea what distribution is like now but I just thought that was crazy back then.

DMBNirvana - If I can spot some bottles I will definitely PM you. PA alcohol laws suck for the most part, in that you can only buy cases at distributors and six packs at most bars (which are marked up crazy - $15 for Miller Lite).

My buddy has been bugging me for the last bottle of pliney I had. I felt like being a nice guy and told him to bring over something I would like. He brought over boogoop. The mikeller +3floyds collab. I don't know how the distribution for his this is working. I haven't seen at any liquor store and the brewery doesnt have it on their list last I checked. But now that I gave up my last pliney, I'm sure it will be all over the place.

A not so funny story about this beer, phishdmb and I went to hopleaf to get some but it turned out they were tapping the keg the next day :bang. I got his holes up just for them to be crushed moments later. That one was 100% on me and I still feel bad about it. So hopefully I can find a bottle for him somewhere.

There are only 33 reviews on BA and they are pretty recent, so maybe it's on it's way to stores.

Still need to try this. They were ranked quite highly on that top100 list which is obviously subjective, but there on there for a reason for sure. I am Into stouts, imperial stouts, and double ipa's.

If they make any beers that are good in those categories. Hit me up.

I'm gonna try and head to the brewery this weekend so if I see any I'll grab some. On another note they are doing their annual Hunahpu release party on March 10th.

Couldnt edit this, but after some quick research, sounds like trading (shipping to PA) is fine, its the wineries and brewerys that are not supposed to ship directly. just FYI for any fellow PA'ers

All right party people. With the medical fun time I am having... and the diet for the weightloss challenge at work, I need to unload some beer on someone who can enjoy it! Since it wouldn't be a trade... all I am asking is you to pay for shipping. I have:
1 Capital Brewery (Madison, WI) ~ Winter Skal
1 New Glarus (New Glarus, WI) ~ Chocolate Abbey
1 Point (Steven's Point, WI) ~ St. Benedict's Winter Ale
2 Lake Front Brewery (Milwaukee, WI) ~ Holiday Spice
1 Tyranena Brewery (Lake Mills, WI) ~ Bitter Woman IPA
1 Sand Creek (Black River Falls, WI) ~ Cranberry Special Ale
1 Hinterland (Green Bay, WI) ~ Winter Land
3 Great Lakes Brewing ~ Christmas Ale

PM me if you are interested in the lot. It will probably be around $20.00 to ship them all:) :cheers

Kenny had wonderful things to say about 2011. I quote his text
"This beer tastes like Mr. Clean pissed in a bottle."
"Put some fruity pebbles and a cigar butt into your mouth and drink your pee - that's what this tastes like"

I got some yuks outta that text.
I'm aging two bottles, hopefully the pee taste will be less noticeable.

While I would personally say I like zombie better. Hopslam is seasonal, so I would go After that one. Plus it's a stronger beer. So if be getting more for your $.

I wonder why they are stopping distribution of it? Was always pretty easy to come by in PA and NJ, in fact just emptied a couple bottles that were in my fridge a few days ago....I didn't know it was that sought after. Which leads to the question are more breweries going to limit distribution to drive hype, cause that sucks.

This place has been dead lately, so let's discuss something that everyone loves. What is your favorite brewery, favorite type, favorite beer? Rave about the ones you love, warn us about the ones you hate.

I just picked up a pack of Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA. I've heard great things about Dogfish Head, and even better things about the 90 minute, so I decided to spend the $9.99 on the 4-pack. Haven't tried it, but will later this week.

I think $15 is good. Thought Dan said it was $18 at his Heinen's in Cleveland.

Worth it IMO. Just finishing a Southern Tier 2xIPA after 2 Hopslams, poor thing doesn't even compare and it's a good beer in its own right.

I don't think so, I think they're just in a really big phase of trying out new brews, and giving the guys that work there total freedom....hell, that's how Raging Bitch became, they had an inner office contest to come up with a kickass beer for the anniversary, and it ended up selling better than ALL of their beers previous to it. Jim is just trying to get some creativity from his boys, and after this last tour I'm a BIGGER Fan now.

That black cherry lager was awesome. I think any option that ends with us drinking that beer again sounds perfect haha. I went, wasnt too bad for tix, but people were bitching like it was the hardest thing to do. They were 10 for a ticket which alotted you 3 bottles. So basically 3 bottles cost you $55.

Any other DPers going to this? DP tailgate & brew exchange anyone?

I am going to go, and would like to set up a party/beer tasting place at my house the night before if there is any interest and we get a group together. I live less than 3 miles from the brewery and have two extra bedrooms and a shitton of couch and floor space.

All I bought was some CC Jose Marti
porter. I head back Friday so I'll most likely buy a few bottles and bubble wrap in my suitcase. There is a total wine about 20 miles from me back home. I've got to go check out what they have. I was impressed with how massive the place is. They had cases of Ballast Point victory at sea, from San Diego. The liquor store I go to limits that stuff to 2 per person. Nice. And if u got some more money to spend have him pick up some beers by shorts. It's becoming one of my favorite breweries very quickly. Some of my faves by them are the liberator, huma lupa licious, and pandemonium. But I havent had a bad one yet. Be warned though they are intensely hoppy.

Double trouble is a great seasonal Double ipa, i think its on par with hopslam. The all day ipa is the new year roun beer they introduced. I believe it is quite weak, but I'll pick some up toTry out when I see it. I've had the imperial stout twice. I really dig it. Along with that dragons milk.

Nice. And if u got some more money to spend have him pick up some beers by shorts. It's becoming one of my favorite breweries very quickly. Some of my faves by them are the liberator, huma lupa licious, and pandemonium. But I havent had a bad one yet. Be warned though they are intensely hoppy.

Interesting. I'll have to have her check it out for me. The Raisin Apollo sounds different.

For Chicago area friends: If you want a bar with a phenomenal beer selection but don't feel like driving all the way downtown, Durty Nellie's is absolutely awesome. Its in Palatine and I used to play open mic nights there all the time. They have great food and an absolutely amazing beer list. Plenty of amazing selections but I noticed: a 3 Floyds I have never even heard of called Aotearoa and Goose Island Bourbon County Bramble Rye.

I'll have to check that out when I get home. And free Chicago-area people that want to try Bourbon County coffee on draf as well as vanilla on draft and some other barrel aged stuff on Friday check out the link below.

Happy I have a CBS. But would love to keep the series going.
