I am traveling each day from Yakima. Is parking going to be an issue?

Shouldn't be...what hotel are you at?

What time are you planning on getting there?

Do you have VIP parking? That would make it easier getting out of there each night if you are in a hurry to get back.

+3 on VIP parking, get it if you can. General Parking and leaving the Gorge after the shows is usually a gigantic pain in the ass.

I bought VIP 3 day passes for Gorge and didn't realize they didn't come with VIP parking passes like most events....Anybody got VIP parking they might not need?

I am staying at a hotel in Yakima. Currently I don't have any parking passes. Does anyone have any extra for sale?

Well, if you're at the Hilton Garden Inn, be sure you're under the group block that's setup for "Dave Matthews Band", for $109/night

Yes! Parking passes are great. If you get the Livenation VIP ones I know at least in years past that you can buy them right at the gate and they direct you off to a different lot than the general area but because of it being a festival where gates open earlier than before I have no idea how fast it will fill up. Are they already sold out at livenation.com?

I bought Platinum parking passes again this year - they are my favorite because you go in a different entrance and are down towards the buses about halfway down the hill - you enter in a separate area by the food/bars and you have the shortest distance to walk to leave, without having to make the slow, long trek back to the front entrance and my lazy bones loves it.

Yes, I didn't even pay attention to the parking until the envelope came sans passes!

I was figuring on getting in line on Friday between 10-11, should be plenty safe, you gotta figure a lot of people still won't even be at the Gorge yet, lots travel in on Friday morning/afternoon.

Right-- good call. And a lot of the people that will be there that early will be running for the rail... us merch freaks are a select few!!

The camping is separate from the venue, it's a solid little walk to get to the gate.

nice!! ya I think it's definitely worth it to get there early and get the merch taken care of. Otherwise, I can't enjoy myself. I'm just that addicted. Esp. since I don't have a guitar strap yet and it's my first Gorge trek.

I can't imagine sitting out there all day waiting. It's supposed to be in the 80's and 90's all weekend so stay hydrated! :)

Considering that right now in Seattle it's 57, cloudy, and a bit drizzly, I actually think I would die sitting out in the sun for that long :lol

I do wish I could make it there early for merch but it's not looking very likely since I don't have 3 day passes and would need to use the re-entry.

What do you "rail people" do for going to the bathroom, etc? I've always wanted to do that at least once, but my gf doesn't like to be crowded in, so if I ever do it I'd probably be solo. Do you have a 'rail buddy' who holds a spot for you when you take a break? Or is that frowned upon?

Sorry, this should probably be posted in my "dumb questions" thread. Don't call me jwally.

Yes, you get a rail buddy and take turns getting beer, food, taking a leak, etc...

The one time I was up front at the rail... it was the most enjoyable, comfortable show experience ever. Because you don't have to worry about people pushing you from all over the place... everyone just stays in place and you have a rail to hold on to. Your gf would probably enjoy it more than being back further in the crowd... taken from someone who doesn't like being crowded in...

Well that doesn't sound too bad. If I'm ever solo I'll have to hook up with one of yous. (for rail buddying, get your minds out of the gutter)

I like where your head is at. I'll give you a call sometime Thursday to meet up for some drinks. Should be with some other DPers also.
