he was still listed as "serious" this morning. I saw the article, but I don't have the link at my finger tips right now

'Serious' is better than 'Critical', right?

ryangibson

Yes, critical is worse.

'Serious' is better than 'Critical', right?

Yes, but it's still serious which means he is under constant supervision.

Looks like Roi is doing even better now. He's off the respirator and Dave and Carter spent some time with him. He was talking and cracking jokes. Recovery time is estimated to be 1 month.

Leroi Moore may be out for quite a while.

Multiple sources tell antsmarching.org that Leroi Moore suffered a punctured lung and broken ribs. The June 30 accident landed the saxophonist in the hospital, where he remains as of July 2.

Speculation among those familiar with his situation believe that he could be out longer than we anticipate. For "up to a year", according to one source. Most agree that he will not return for this tour.

How this will effect the potential album, and future sessions, is unknown.

Rumors floating around some of the other sites say that he's got some broken ribs, a broken clavicle, and, worst of all, a punctured lung. Could be leaving the hospital as early as this week.

Punctured lung = not good for someone who makes a living playing the saxamophone!

remembering him being upgraded from serious to fair and breathing a sigh of relief brings me back to the day after LA N1 08, and getting a text while on vacation that brought my world horribly crashing down around me....my hero passed on :cry

I was just wrapping up my radio show when a friend sent me an IM telling me to play some DMB for Roi (followed by a :( face). I responded with something like, "Yeah, I know... sucks. :shrug I played some earlier, though!"

Then she was like, "Wait... you know what happened, right?"
Me: "Uh, yeah hun... ATV accident, hospital, etc."
Her: "No... he died today."

I felt the blood drain from my head and then rush back into it immediately. I couldn't speak for several minutes. A couple of my friends were there with me and noticed right away that something was wrong. All I could do was point at the screen to have them read the IM conversation.

Then I went back to my apartment only to be treated like some kind of baby by my roommate and my "girlfriend" at the time (obviously not fellow Dave-heads). I didn't really expect any other kind of reaction from them, though. I was totally in the wrong company to deal with what I had just learned.

I was fortunate enough to go to the Gorge for the first time that year, though. They opened with Bartender -- as I think everyone knew they would -- and the entire place just broke down in tears. It was a truly humbling and extremely powerful healing experience, for the band and fans alike.

Your music will be cherished and your spirit honored forever, Roi. My thoughts are with your family constantly.

crowd was still crying during Bartender at the Berkeley shows too....they played it two nights....it was indeed powerful stuff. I dont know if any of you have ever met Rory but him and his wife brought this huge piece of canvas (the size of Cal King sheet) and during the 8 hours we boozed in line at Berkley shows people signed it with thoughts, prayers etc. It was amazing how many people cried. When he gave it Dave he took it and hugged it against his heart when he said thank you. I think I have a picture of it somewhere. Ill try and find it

:*( I got all choked up reading this. I saw it had been posted in a few times today but didn't open it until I got home from work.

I've got this weird knot in my stomach and just feel terribly sad. I still remember the Gorge and the tears and the glowstick tribute and the emotions of that night. Sometimes I can't believe he's gone. :(

yeah it was, I have never seen anything like that in all my concert goings over the years (hundreds and hundreds)...I was in B6 and just was caught up in the emotion on the boys faces and seeing those colors rain down from the sky (or so it seemed)...it was like he was there somehow. Gall, I gotta get out of this thread, I'm getting all choked up again.
