So they had a grand opening yesterday and I went to it. The place was packed; it looked like the the Friday after Thanksgiving. I've heard that they having frames there and I went to check it out. I think I'm in love. I've never seen such selection before in my life. All of my posters are in Americanframe.com frames but I'm going to change them out and buy new frames. They have 22x28 frames that are the perfect size for a Methane poster and two mats. It will be $130 per poster. That includes the frame, two acid free mats, an acid free mounting board and mueseum quality glass. The same frame on americanframes with everything listed but plexiglass instead of glass was... about $130. Needless to say, I'm going to Hobby Lobby.
I have 9 posters currently framed and I used americanframe.com for all of them. I went with a small metal frame for all of them and got the acid free backing and u/v protectant plexiglass. I didn't want mats and I don't regret that; I just preferred not having mats initially. Those frames totaled about $500 so me switching is not a small deal to me. I plan on doing about a poster per month and I should have all the posters that I have (15) framed and hanging in about a year and a half. Of course, I will add to that number if the band tours next year and if I ever get the rest of the Instrumentos Des Flores posters that will only add to it again but I will cross that bridge when I get to it.
A couple of questions. Do you prefer wood or metal frames and why? Because I have so many posters with varying colors, should I stay with the same frame for all of them for continuities sake or should I "mix it up?" Has anyone else decided late in thier framing process to make a change? If so, do you regret it? Do you prefer glass or plexiglass and why? There are several more questions that I could ask but that is about it for now. Thanks for your time.

Well... first I want to ask about the glass. Everything included is $130?!?! I have my stuff done professionally. I've paid from $137.59 to $161.17 for my DMB posters. That is without museum quality glass. The addition of that alone would cost nearly $200 more per print where I go. I'm not trying to say that what you've said isn't the case with Hobby Lobby, but I'd double check before placing an order.
And as far as my collection goes, I use the same frame and glass every time. I like the clean look of black metal. I use the same matting every time as well, but they have different colored centers and are cut on a bevel. I choose to frame my tickets too, if I have them. That's where I try to do something a little different each time, how the tickets are displayed.

museum glass aint really glass. it just has the clearity of something like HD for tv. well worth for especially top notch posters. your frames sould not all be the same but give them character so to speak.

I generally frame based on what prints I'm going to put together. TODAY I finally closed the deal on a 10/5 Klausen Widespread Panic! :D I'll hang it with the Klausen Eagles of Death Metal since it uses the same color palette. Same frame, UV reducing museum glass (which is actually acrylic).
I also have a Klausen wall in the foyer. It has the 4 Eddie Vedder solos in a sqare. Again, same frame on all of them with colored mats for each. I love using color mats, but that's just me.
I'm working on another Klausen wall with all of his blood red prints. And yeah, I really do <3 Brad Klausen! ;)
