The rooms are 50 sq feet and have a bathroom down the hall that you have to use... I was a bit paranoid about that but after seeing it its not that bad. Showers are fully contained and the crapper is in its own tiny room... not as bad as I thought. Also if your rolling in cash you can spring for a room that has a bathroom - very cool trendy place... great trendy bar in the lobby.

Actually I think it was linked from a blog I read - consumerist, gothamist, or some travel one, don't remember. The story was memorable though! I've stayed in some crappy hotels, but not that bad!

Both look great- glad to confirm the pink paint isn't screened on. Do you have Star Wars or Run DMC? It looks similar to them in terms of the sepia tone to create the faded, old-school photograph look. Definitely am looking forward to getting mine soon.

Saw the movie yesterday. Pretty entertaining.

It is informative and does give you some good background about how he got started. I dont think it will make you like or hate him, but what it will do i think, is just reinforces how you already feel about him. People who dont like him will view the movie as calling him out as a fraud and people who do like him will view it him getting recognized as an artist.

One thing that really impressed me was the scale of the LIB show. It was pretty crazy, especially for someone who had never done a small show let alone a big ass exhibition.


Oh, and banksy is f'ing hilarious.

i think some collectors would rather have a litho..it is a cheaper alternative. but there is a group of people out there that probably got the lithos and really want the original prints now because they came out and were exposed to the image... just my opinion

There was a huge cluster fuck of people. And they just opened the doors and let people flood in. Chris had a list of everyone's order in line so everyone got the free prints in the correct order and numbers. First person got number 1. (which was DMTR's sister)

i agree. you pay for something specific, so you better get what you pay for. id say tape on the front of a print is the same as minor damage. on the back tho, nbd cuz its the back. and its not effecting the front so who cares.

and a lot of times removing the tape, will cause a little tiny but of paper tear, but again if its on the back nbd.

Nah. It may mean though that a little tape on the back doesn't impact or take away from the art in any way. Jeep likes it (and I am just guessing here) because the tape is obviously there for a reason and had a function. The question then is what function and why is it there. Were they experimenting with the best way to do the handfinishing and taped them up against a wall?

I think there are a lot of examples where artists have done weird things to their works of art that may seem arbitrary but are not. Not saying this is the case, but I find it a little ridiculous people are making a big deal about it. There is an article over on EB about an artist who sold a test print for a ton of money that accidentally had masking tape stuck to the front. The buyer framed it as is, arguing that it was part of the artist's choice and part of the art.

Or maybe we are brainwashed. Who knows. :)

Ha - Nah, as an artist I personally love the process and any insight into how it was made I like... I like seeing ideas that have been pitched and not used for advertisements, I like seeing the scale models used for sculptures - way back when, someone on the boards had the original sketches for one of the posters that methane did for DMB - I loved it! So seeing something like the tape (as long as it came with it and its on the back) is totally cool in my book! Its almost like an accidental fingerprint or if you ever look at the back of your print and you can see ink from other prints... Its cool to me... and it doesnt detract from it... might even make for a cool story.

But about the process - Im addicted to The History Ch and all the shows on how things are built and made...

As far as defending anyhting MBW makes thats possibly negative... um,,, I have opinions. But most of the time keep my mouth shut - I respect him and everyone who collects his work... so Im not going to bash him on a print or a series unless I truly have a "WTF is he doing" opinion.

And the fact that I am brainwashed doesnt help... fml...

Got it. Complete w/ creases from a dented tube. Anyone ever deal w/ damaged goods from brainwash? I already contacted UPS and brainwash, but if they can't get me a replacement I may just keep it; the creases are not that bad and I like it a lot. If no there is no replacement I may try for a partial refund and ask if I can keep it.......maybe iron it? It is cotton paper after all. :)

I know I'm sounding like a hater today but I had recently a terrible experience with MBW customer service. My Liberty was damaged, never even saw the tube, and it took about 3 weeks before another one was sent out from the MBW's studio from start to finish. Emails were sporadic and not detailed but the jist of it was that MBW's team wanted UPS to cover the damages and pay for it and they wouldn't and ya. Not MBW's fault whatsoever, but when I emailed them to get a quick update, it took a week to get a response and the response wasn't even detailed or anything. In the end, I got a mint Liberty print, just didnt' like the hassle of trying to "be in the loop" of what was going on when I was a paying customer.

So it sounds like they will send a replacement print in do time right? There is a guy coming from UPS to look at the tube, packaging etc. so that they can figure out whose
at fault (clearly it looks like UPS as always). Thanks guys, at least I feel like I'm headed in the right direction.
