i wonder if they'll do a print release...looks like a gallery exhibiting new work rather than an 'MBW' show...i've emailed for a price list and asked about a print. I imagine some of those are close to 100k. Despite my hesitations on the dude, those pieces are really nice, the marley is beautiful.

The NYC location of Opera Gallery is the one who hosted ICONS. They'll have the new work exhibited, but it wont be on the caliber of L.A.

Opera did a gallery show in NYC a few months before ICONS opened up. Im pretty sure all sales at ICONS went through Opera.

the OGs are priced between 50 and 100k (GBP), i called up and spoke to the jean-david who is the managng director of opera and said it will be very similar to the nyc show, with new art being exhibited but there will be no print release.

that price for an OG is really exceptional. He's now selling OGs at banksy/hirst prices. I guess the real question is what do they actually sell at as when i was getting off the phone he was already throwing the 'let me know which one you're interested in and i'll help you out' line at me.

I had really hoped the Toys for Tots print this year was going to be another announcement and instant on sale. When everyone was complaining about the $850 price tag on the last print I had a feeling that they would be doing another print at a lower price... The ape is ok... I like last years Christmas print better. Just my $.02 Will I ever be able to buy another MBW print again???

As for the HIV print - looks almost like a crappy knock off of an MBW print. Is that thing for real? Who is the seller?

Really interesting documentary on msnbc last night about Coca Cola. One topic discussed was their influence on how the modern day Santa Claus looks via their advertising campaigns. Really wish MBW stuck with the coca cola Santa for this Christmas print as well.

Hello Everyone,

We would like to apologize to anyone who attempted to purchase an Everyday Life print this morning. Moments before the print was supposed to go online, our server completely crashed. Nobody was able to access the website and purchase a print. Since the incident, we have been working with our server providers trying to resolve the issue. As soon as the website is back up the print will go online, and we will send an email notification. Again, we apologize about the inconvenience and hope to resolve this issue completely for any future print releases

Strange that MBW's site is acting up so strangely. Usually I find his site easy to purchase off of... even with the hard to get prints. Simple PayPal button has never failed me on his site. I'm not going for this print but seriously, this sounds like a mess of a drop!

Due to continuing issues with our server, the print will not be able to go on sale today. We will send out a notification with the new sale time as soon as we're able to. We apologize for the inconvenience.

DMB22JEEP
Feb 29, 2012, 08:51 PM
Legit.

I've told this story and Ill tell it again. I teach a lesson on MBW 2 times a year to 5 different graphic design classes. 250 kids in total. We see student created PowerPoint presentations on MBW, they including all of the facts they can find on MBW and his work. Every semester the presentations gets longer and longer... It used to be 5 min, then 10 min, then 15 min, now a 15 min now it takes up a full hour with our debate and discussion. Ive seen several things happen over time in regards to his career and the students perception of him.

In the beginning he was an enigma... we didnt know anything about him just his work and some of the random stuff we could find on the web like the LA show, Life Remote Control, the quotes from Shepard Fairey and Banksy... there were rumblings of it all being a joke by Banksy. The kids responded really well and were really interested since they had a working knowledge of Shepard Fairey and Banksy this was a new twist.

Next the NY show happened, along with Exit and that is when the rumors blew up that he was a fake and he paid everyone to make his art... the kids were a little more skeptical but were blown away with the videos of (me) from NYC and the pictures I had taken while I was there - along with the personal stories... but I could tell they were skeptical now, the vibe changed... they felt like he was taking advantage of people. But still "cool" none the less.

Now, as more time passes, the kids see more videos (like the one posted above) of him talking about art, how "life is beautiful" and being positive and believing in yourself. The kids are seeing a really interesting evolution in a contemporary artist career (so are we)... the kids have come back around and are genuinely interested in his art (they love his work) and they get excited by him. (Im not standing there saying "you have to like this guy or else!") They genuinely love his work and the story's of his career, his interactions with Shepard (who my kids dont like anymore) and Banksy (who my kids LOVE) and the shows he has done.

With all the shit people have talked about him, who is the one person who hasnt talked shit? Him. Ever. He has never once said anything negative... If you can find it - show us.

I had a bizarre conversation the other day with someone over the phone and I said "Time has validated his career"... It just came out as I was talking... and in hind sight it is so true. And probably something that needs to be said publicly right now. So there I said it. first.

I'm incredibly grateful to him and his work - I applaud him for he has accomplished and I look forward to many more chapters!

Also - There is also something I dont think most people are aware of. A lot (most) famous artist have teams of people working for them. I know someone who is a "project manager" for probably one of the most famous sculptors in the world and none of the art touches the artists hands. He stops by throws a few ideas out and comes back a few weeks later - looks at it... makes some suggestions and then shows up at the opening. From what Ive seen MBW does a whole lot more than that.

Post 1,042... I'll start making them count.

i do think it's weird how he inspires hatred in people, i also think it's odd how the people that like him proselytize about his virtues.

personally, he's not for me, that has less to do with people helping him do the art (which as you said most artist do) and more to do with just not feeling anything original from his work.

I love the print, but hate the splatter...his big prints are really impressive in person. Top notch quality.

This is going to be stellar in person. Expensive, but I really do like this.

So this is one of those puzzles where you move the pieces around, with the white space being an empty square. Why did he have to add the splash? I'd be in if it weren't for that.

The heat is off, the joke is wearing thin, demand is way down... yawn. I'll make a 100 dollars elsewhere.

I like Lichtensteins work - would of liked it better without the "puzzle" aspect. Love the size - only own one of his large prints. Amazing in person.

I agree his work has plateaued. Im glad he has moved on from the Rockwell imagery. The puzzle aspect is a bit of Faile's recent work with the Lichtenstein taking from D*Face's recent stuff. Combination does go well though.

Anyone go for this? I forgot about it, not like I was gonna try anyway.
