I found out my company's Christmas party is the same night as the Dave Matthews solo show in North Carolina. I had plans to go up there anyway, but this all came up a few days ago. What should I do?

is the company Christmas party a must-do type of thing? I know you mentioned it was at a cool location...would it be frowned upon for not going

I don't "have" to do either of them, it's just a respect thing for the company. I have to tell them soon because I don't want to be rude and say I'm going, then not show up.

Do the party. We discussed this.

Dave won't even play a full set, if you want my guess.

Do you plan on staying with the company for a while?

I've been working for the same guy for 4 years, but this company is just over a year old. We've done over 4 million in revenue and we only projested 1 million, which has nothing to do with my decision, but I know my boss is really excited and is going all out on the party.

It's on the Intercostal during the Ft. Lauderdale boat parade, blah blah blah...

It's more of a respect thing for the company, we've done so well

EDIT: to answer your question, I'll be with the company as long as I'm FL which may only be one more year.

The fact that you even have to ask is scary.

If it's not forever and you could still get a good referral from them, I'd blow off the company event.

Fuck that! Don't do the party! Dave isn't going to be the only person at this event (obviously). Gov't Mule, John Popper w/DJ Logic, Taj Mahal Trio, Col. Hampton and David Schools are going to be there! It's always a helluva show.

:lol :thumbsup Most of the people I work with don't know it, but the job is almost as far down on my priorities list as it gets. Family, friends, schoolwork, football games and DMB all come before work.

What I find funny is that they need me more than I need the job.

You forgot to mention one very important aspect of coming to NC.

Koreelove
Nov 13, 2006, 05:02 PM
....ahem.....the added bonus to going to NC for the show is being able to chill with Gary! and Rob D, which is hotter then a full rack from Chilie's.

I missed two Christmas parties in a row for D&F/DMB. They're fun, and I go to them when I can, but I don't plan my personal trips around them. I see enough of my co-workers.

I did not go to our holiday party last year. I was at MSG :sadie I may have had to kill myself in a slow painful manner if I had decided not to go to msg, then heard about it afterwards......but I know this is different, I'm sorry....

That is all.

We ARE going to xmas jam Sadie. You told me not to fret and I am not fretting. We are gonna get tix and we are gonna party and then you are gonna leave me to go hang with Gary and Rob D and I will cry and you will come back to console me and we will have a splendid time. So like Melissa and Chase said, it is not just Dave you are getting to see you will also get to see :christy

UPDATE!

I casually mentioned to my boss the posibility of missing the Christmas party while at lunch today. We are friends and co worker at the same time. What I DIDN'T mention to him was that Dave was involved. He rprobably would have called an insance asylum if he knew it was for Dave. So, I'm working on getting up there. If I can get tickets then I'm IN!

Y'know what would suck? If me and Jrock don't get tickets. I will cancel Christmas if that happens.
