dumbest thing i have ever heard in a while, this is coming from a cubs fan.
i am a firm believer that baseball fields are a good place to watch baseball, football stadiums are a good place to watch football, etc. yeah, the bears once played at wrigley, they stopped because the endzone ended 2ft from the ivey. point being, sports venues are for sports.
seeing DMB at soldier field a few years ago sucked. unless you are in the 1/4 front part by the stage, your view sucks. if i want to watch DMB on big monitors, i will get the DVD.
so are the cubs going to play a few series at tinley? should the brewers lpay a couple games at alpine? maybe the rockies should get a set of games scheduled at red rocks?

I totally see your point. Fenway Park was a great time, but not the best place to see a show. I think it has more to do with the name of the venue then anything.
"ooOo, I saw DMB at Wrigley Field" ect....
The sound is never that great, the crowd is good, but not that great. I'm not sure why, but the crowd at Fenway sucked compared to what I would have thought.
But for someone that has some sort of attachemnt to ball fields or whatever, this is a dream come true.

I'm willing to part with a kidney as it stands now, hopefully I won't need to do anything more extreme than that. I would. I'd just rather not have to:)

So I was looking at the Cubs tentative schedule and what that means for potential show days, and it appears as though it would be weeknight shows.
The Cubs have a day game on the Sunday before the break but I'm going ot guess Tuesday and Wednesday to be difficult:)
Confirmed dates are being leaked if you know 'the right people' or some shit:)

I drove by Wrigley yesterday and pictured the streets of Wrigleyville taken over by DMB fans and one big party.
For those of you not familiar w/ the area, there are a boatload of bars right around Wrigley...and when I say boatload, I mean one next to another for a 1/2 mile radius

I still can't believe the city would let them have concerts on a weeknight. I have heard Monday/Tuesday, but I am still betting on Friday/Saturday (6th-7th) or Saturday/Sunday (7th-8th).

They do night games, why couldn't they do a concert?
There are games tentatively scheduled for the dates you are betting on.
Besides the actual All Star Break is only July 9-12 and that is Monday through Thursday. Take a look at the Cubs schedule and you'll see that, in theory they could do a Sunday night show on the 8th because there is a day game but I don't know that that would leave enough time for the crew to set everything up.
I'd love a new tour shirt that had 7/7/07 on it though:)

What are you hoping to see this year? Stuff that's been on hiatus? New stuff? Do you wish some song will get shelved for the year?
1. #34 - missed the comeback in '05
2. out of my hands - I just love this song and realize Dave doesn't like singing it all that much, but I really like it.
3. BOWA - any show, anywhere in the set is OK by me.

1. Pig
2. Rapunzel
3. BOWA

6. Nancies
7. The Last Stop

Halloween
#41
#40
The Stone
Those are the first four on my wishlist, they were almost non-existent last year.
Then, of course there's the songs we might not ever hear again:
GGT, Crazy Easy, etc...
At least last year we had some JTR, Dreaming Tree, Granny...

It's true! :lol
I was hanging out last weekend with a crew of people that go and see a lot of jam bands around the country, and they were asking me if psychadelics and uppers were as prevalent at DMB shows as the ones they go to (Disco Biscuits, STS9, etc. etc.). They also asked me what it was like to trip to DMB music, since they're more used to either VERY jammy or very electronic stuff. I proceeded to tell them about my obsession with Minarets and that I will NOT trip at a DMB show until I hear it live. However, once I do, the gloves are off and I'll fuckin' candy flip all the way from the Gorge to Bristow. :lol

I want to see BOWA, Recently, and I'll Back You Up
Mainly, I want to be a little closer to the stage. 20 rows back would be plenty close enough for me!!. There's no way that's going to happen though, I have no way of getting tickets like that.
The only concerts I can go to are Antioch, TN and Atlanta, GA.
Oh, word?
Feb 20, 2007, 02:10 PM
This is the kind of thread where I get to throw out a bunch of hollow wishes and be greatly disappointed during the summer. But I'm gonna do it anyway.
1. Seek Up. I know, I know. It's played almost every year, but it's the one song that keeps me going to shows. If the band ever stopped playing this song, I would absolutely not go to see them ever again.
2. Bartender. It always has and always will give me the goosebumps. I never tire of hearing it live.
3. Recently. I've never seen it. I would like to.
4. Sugar Will. I miss it. I miss the lighting. I miss the groove of the song. I hope they haven't forgotten it.
5. Hello Again. As a show opener, it has always been a good go-to. Pumps up the crowd and Dave screams.
6. ABI. It's so raw. Ugh. It just takes all the anger out of me.
7. #36. My prediction is that Dave will remember what this song used to be and want to play it in it's entirety. Hey! A girl can dream...
I would like to see less of Stay this tour. Alpine night two I actually walked out of a show early for the first time ever during this song. It's overplayed. I would also like to see a little less One Sweet World and Jimi Thing. Yeah, they're fun songs but if I hear OSW one more time as an opener, I'm literally going to start throwing punches. Jimi Thing is a great song, as well, but I'm just tired of the mid set monotony of it.
Regardless of all I've said here, it will be great to have a good summer with some fantastic people at an awesome venue. I hope you all have your wishes come true and have a great summer!

i think you are right. i mean in '05 they pulled #34 out of NOWHERE. granted it was w/o words, but still!

I think Cville is the closest we will come to that, but you never know.

I don't think we will ever get a full 36 again. listen to the end of the 9.12.06 everday at redrocks, theres a good 36 outro.

i love the part when he says "just move your bones a little bit, just shake your bones a little bit"

#36 really never had a lot of words anyway. It was a short set he always sung and then everything else was on the fly. You just have to look at everday as #36. i know it sucks but thats just the way it is.

#34 is one of those songs that they won't bring the words back. I'm sure he can't even remember them, or their written down some where.

You didn't know? I've become best friends w/ the band. I wrote them a letter stating that I knew Willson and that I went backstage w/ him at a Crash show and they gave me all the tour info for this summer.
Seriously, though, if you wanna camp, I'll have room for you.

They've been hitting Texas in mid to late August the last couple of years. It's a hell of a road trip (about 800 miles from SA->Dallas->Houston).
